Curve YAE"The Young Arts Entrepreneur (Y A E) programme offers people between the age of 16 and 25 the chance to design and lead their own community arts projects,
and maybe launch their own businesses. As well as support, training and mentoring, Curve is offering up to £1000 to run each successful project. The projects are sponsored by Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and Paul Hamlyn Foundation. .."
Alongside the programme, We are able to take a Level 3 Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Award at Level 3, Which then allows us with full knowledge and a certificate on how to run an enterprise and run it successfully. Within the award we look at finance, accounting, self employment, freelance work. My project with Curve YAE is Dance and Literacy based workshop in schools. which is also linked to O2 Think Big Funding A recent project Example: I worked on exploring and finding ways to move like a Natural Phenomena. We were focusing on Earthquakes, Tornadoes, Volcanoes, Tsunami's and also Thunderstorms. Within the lesson we look at the sounds they would make, some of the key words that are used to describe and inform us about the natural phenomena, and also link it to pieces if text or literacy that the children can relate it to. For Tornadoes, the Year 3 and 4 were looking at The Wizard of Oz and also they have previously read The Tempest. So from this together we gathered some key words, explanations and also looked at the patterns the tornadoes move in and what shapes they are. It is a chance for the children to explore and create their own version of what a natural phenomena looks like. We also looked at where you would be taken to if you were picked up in a tornado, each child working on their own and in small groups. All the way through there was a constant relation back to the books and creative writing that was being worked on. |
O2 Think BigAre you 13-25? Need money, support or training to help improve your community?
We help young people launch ideas and programmes that benefit the places where they live. You provide the big idea, we provide £300 and the support to make it happen... My Project is taking Dance and Literacy Workshops into schools, and Libraries. I feel the project is about allowing the childrens creativity and imagination of literacy and applying the literacy to movement and voice. I have been able to coinside this within my YAE Project. I am very fortunate in that my first project went really well. I am aiming to deliever the same project to an SEN group and a Rural county school aswell as the City School. This way i will be able to have good sources of evidence for an evaluation and also for future references and projects. |
